I have a little MSi notebook that has worked perfectly well for 3 years. I used it on Friday at Dublin Airport (no problems with wifi access or web pages) but tried on Saturday here in UK and it is spitting the dummy. I can get some internet access but not e.g. Hotmail, Channel4.com, BBC (oddly I can access online banking). The router is not the problem (I have other latops in the house and they work fine). I have checked the usual things: proxy access is not set, IP address etc. are not static. Troubleshooting in IE suggests a firewall problem but I can't see anthing there, while troubleshooting when trying to access Windows Live marks DNS and Key Ports as the problem area. Any help gratefully received.

I would first go to your network control panel, manage wireless networks, delete your own wireless network and then reset your winsock and tcp/ip stack by typing these commands in an elevated command prompt window:

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log

Then restart your computer. When it detects networks re-enter your passkey.

Me again - I couldn't log on with my original ID.

Thank you for taking the trouble to look at this. I'm afraid I gave in to my frustration and reset everything to day 1 settings (I need the notebook for work). However, I shall save your advice and try it next time if/when it happens again. It's probably the only thing I didn't try yesterday. Thanks again.
