With a good CPU, both cards will max out any game at your resolution. The GTX 760 is a bit better than the 7950, but generally costs considerably more. In addition, the radeon 7970 is quite cheap now and can sometimes go down around the price of the GTX 760. You can check out these benchmarks if you want: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/854?vs=855
Remember that at that resolution, your CPU is very important. Quality should be fine on both.

The 760 is better than the 7950 and priced about equal, would look at the Asus 760, there are some 7970s down close to the price of the 760 and the 7970 is the better of the two here, but if going 7970, think I'd go the GB at the low end and it's about $290 right now

At that resolution there is no need for a radeon 7970. The 7950 starts at $210, the 760 at $240. That's not nearly equal. I would honestly say just go for the radeon 7870. They sell for as low as $140 and will max out any game at that resolution with a good CPU.
