I want to put a decent graphics card in my Dell Optiplex 755 (Desktop Edition), I know all about needing the low profile card. However what everyone has told me is that my PSU, which is only 280W, is not powerful enough to run a decent graphics card. So what I need to know is what power supply, 500W or more will be suitable for my machine. As in will it fit and will it wreck my motherboard.
Here is a pic of my Optiplex so as you know which one I have compared to the other editions: http://imageshack.com/a/img30/6403/c0w2.png

I'm afraid Blackbird is right on that one. If you want a decent graphics card, you can build your own PC like I'm about to do, and then get yourself a psu that's around 500w if that's what your looking for.

That it is specifically designed for that computer. If you were to use a different psu that has different voltages on the 20+4 pin for example, it will basically toast your motherboard.

I too think you are stumped on the CPU upgrade front.

However, you can upgrade the graphics card in a 755 with the existing PSU; you just need to be careful with the specs.
