I purchased and installed a MSI R7970 TF 3GD5/OC BE. I had an issue with the disc that came with the card displaying the GUI incorrectly and making it impossible to click the buttons. I fiddled with it for a few hours before deciding to download the afterburner software directly from MSI and the driver from ATI. After everything got installed its working fine but I noticed the clock speeds in ccc are at 880 for the GPU and 1250 for the memory. Im assuming that is not correct (since it doesnt match the spec sheets) and I am not fully utilizing this card. Did I install the softtware incorrectly? Can I just bump it up to the correct speeds? Is there a piece I am missing. This is the first factory oc'd card I have ever bought and I want to make sure it is at its factory specs before I start tweaking it.

Could be reading it's 3D Clocks. I had stock clocks of 925MHz which is the normal for a 7970. Try running a game at full res and setup AfterBurner OCD to read your clocks in-game. Use sapphire trixx to OC your card, and MSI for the OCD in-game. I have 1245MHzcore/6085MHzmem, on my ASUS DC2 on 1244Mv. 880 sounds like a 2D clock to me.

Thanks for your help but I found out I have been sent a fraudulent card through Amazon. It was carefully opened and relabeled which explains why it was so cheap. The card was actually a 7950. Sending it back and getting a new one. pffff

Man.... I paid 250USD for my 7970 like 2 months ago on eBay. It was exactly what I wanted, but the thermal paste went bad, and it was dusty as crap. Cleaned the dust, and put some MX-4 on the copper plate and my temps dropped like 15C - 25C.

Thats what i get for going for a good deal lol. It may have turned into a blessing in disguise though. Nvidia just slashed all there prices and the GTX 770 is now comparable in price to the 7970. Only concern is the 2gb vram. I play heavily modded skyrim right now and that uses 2.1 - 2.6 gb.

Me too, but most particle effect mods dont work with NVIDIA, so I went with AMD.
