Hi all!

I've recently been researching eGPU's as an option for replacing my current setup. Putting that aside, though, could anyone offer some insight as to if this would be an option for a laptop with a thunderbolt port? Does anyone know of a project page of someone else using it?

It's is fairly expensive but direct thunderbolt -> PCIe most offer some benefits?

Thank you for your time.

Note: The product can be easily found on the sonnettech website.

Solution
It's only 80w so is only going to handle lower end cards. A $800 laptop will outperform any gpu you can put in it so is a waste of money being $500+buying a gpu.

Hey k1114,

That's a valid point you're right. In that case I supposed I have two options. I can wait for a more powerful commercial product like the one Silverstone is working on or build my own. I'm in a situation where I don't mind waiting also wouldn't I have bottlenecking issues if I had to go from Thunderbolt -> Express Card -> PCIe?

Cheers
