HELP New build, stuck on low resolution

So I just completed a new build with a Gigabyte 7950 and Windows 8 Pro.

My display is fairly low resolution and of my 23" display there is a 2cm black 'border' around it (empty space where screen should be).

I have inserted the CD that came with the GPU and installed the 'drivers' that came with it but to no avail (I have restarted since then).

Any ideas? Thanks in advance. :)

What resolution is native to your monitor? Look up the monitor online.
Common resolutions are:

1280x720 pixels (720p, older)
1680x1050 pixels(WSXGA+, old)
1920x1080 pixels (1080p, most new screens)
2560x1440 pixels (1440p, very new screens, doubt you have this)

And now check what your output resolution is, you can do that by right clicking on the desktop and going to "screen resolution". Optimally you want the screen resolution set in windows to be the same as your monitors native resolution, the highest one you can have.

Hope this helps
