Thinking of upgrading from my HD 7870 GHz Edition. Would this be a decent upgrade and would my processor be able to effectively run this thing?

your cpu will handle it, but i dont think its worth upgrading from a 7870 to a 280x. you'd get more performance adding a secound 7870 in crossfire.

Good to know! What about going to a 7950 instead of crossfiring?

the 7950 is even weaker than the 280x. a 280x is basically a hd7970ghz with a new name.
