Title says it all. Try to explain it as easy as you can because i'm a noob at computers and computer parts. I'm looking to buy a new gaming computer and my budget is 2200$. What is overclocking? Exactly what overclocking do i need?

It increases the speed of your CPU, therefore increasing performance. But also increases the risk of instability of your system, electricity bill, power consumption for PSU, and increases HEat. You don't need to OC with that much budget, get an i7 4770. Then you won't need any OCing with that CPU beast. If you want to experiment, you can get the 4770K version.

K stands for "unlocked CPU", it means you can OC it.

Yea, you don't need to OC your CPU if you have an i7, even if you have the i5 4670!! :D The only time you need to OC if you are a GAMER, is when the CPU is becoming a bottleneck for your powerful GPU. That way, your fps will increase. But with the 4670 or 4770, the GPU will be the bottleneck. They can even handle 4way sli at stock speed. haha
