I'm starting from the "BACK-TO-SCHOOL 2013" configuration, with the free MS Office, which requires Win 8.1 for the rebate. No idea what CPU to use, so I chose the default AMD FX-6300 3.50 GHz Six-Core AM3+ CPU 6MB. I assume that's overkill for non-gaming use and fine for Sims 3 plus its expansions? (: We're okay with Windows 7 and OpenOffice. Dad's lobbying for a computer with Intel 4th generation i7-4770, but Mom's fine with the old computer, which is AMD Athlon II X3 435.)
