Guys I really need your help.I just bought a gigabyte radeon hd 7950 and when I'm trying to play video games,it suddenly shuts down and reboot.
My PC specs are: SilverStone Strider 500W
Kingston 8gb 1600 Mhz
WD HDD 500GB
Gigabyte B75M-D3H Motherboard
Intel I5 3470
I want to mention that I tried to solve my problem by searching on google but I couldn't find a good answer.I tried to downclock the card from 1100 mhz to 900 and even the core Voltage.
I tried many stress benchmarks and it doesn't reboot.
I just want to know if i have to buy a new PSU or just sell my 7950,please help me.

The HD 7950 is a 200W (16.7 amp at +12V) card maxed out, and the i5-3470 is a 77W (6.4 amps @ +12V) processor maxed out. Drives, fans, MB, etc will also draw from the +12V rail. While the 34 amp +12V rail of that PSU should be marginally adequate for that card, shut downs and reboots are usually the sign of a weak, failing, or poor quality PSU. Gaming is about as stressful a load you can put on a CPU/GPU. So it could well be that the card is a bit too much for that 500W PSU. Or it could be that it is beginning to fail.

So you're trying to tell me that I need atleast a 550W PSU.The one I have is a pretty high quality one.

It's one possibility, yes. The PSU you have now is good quality. But may be marginal or failing. It's hard to say for certain.

There could be other reasons the PC is rebooting when it gets stressed, but the PSU is always the first culprit. If you decide to upgrade it, I'd go for more than 550W just to be future proof. Go 600W. Normally, you want to keep the PSU from running at more than 80% of its peak rating. It is more efficient that way.

I hope this is the main reason why my pc is rebooting.I tried to lower the power draw with amd overdrive(20%),but it still does the same.

Then it could be the PSU is simply failing. It can happen even with hi end units. But it is hard to tell for sure. It could even be MB related. Or RAM related. It could be the gfx card is failing. Anything that would suddenly surge the PSU could cause it to shut down/reboot. But from your description, it appears to be something that happens when the PSU is under heavy load.

I doubt it's a MB or video card problem.I can play for about 15 minutes or even a few hours without any problem. But it suddenly shuts down and restart.

Is your PC in a room that has alot of electronics in it such as home theater equipment, space heaters etc? Same goes if those electronics are on the opposite side of the wall that your pc in hooked into. You might have too much load on a single curcuit in your house.
If that isn't an issue, then yeah, it's the PSU being too weak. Your system is not getting enough power.

Well,I got like four electronic things in my whole room. The PC,monitor (which is TV in the same time),a wireless router and the router that the providers gave me(Fiber power internet+TV).

No, I don't.Alright so i emailed the gigabyte staff and they told me i gotta flash my vga bios.At the moment my vga bios is fx1 and i searched on internet that it is unstable. So I gotta backup to F43 cause they said it's the most stable vga bios. They didn't tell me anything about PSU problems.

Wow. Hadn't heard about that one. Well, they should know. Is the BIOS you want available at Gigabyte? Is this your exact card?

The exe file is an extraction program. It extracts the bios somewhere and you have to flash it with a gigabyte program called @bios.

Found the problem.
It was the PSU.On the +12V rail the max it could reach was 3.6...
I just gotta RMA it.

Glad you found the problem.
