My brother had a 3d laptop once and he said it was amazing. But i'm wondering myself if it would be worth buying a monitor with 3d because i've seen a lot of people say it's just stupid too. Is 3d gaming something you can do for hours? If not then it's not something i'd want to waste money on.

It is and isn't. First off, if you don't already have a powerful Nvidia card (760 speeds or about that), or aren't planning on getting one, don't bother. For one, 3D is very demanding, and on AMD it flat out is a waste of time because the support is so bad. 3D is great but you sacrifice alot for it, you're stuck with crappy TN, 1080p displays, you take a performance hit and sometimes it takes a while to get a game set up just right, but once you do nothing compares. 1440p and ultra detail is nice but that only goes so far, 3D (when done properly) is far better than anything else a game can do to draw you in.

The stuff about headaches applies only to the older 3D solutions that ghost and flicker alot, 3D Vision 2 doesn't. I had a 3D monitor for about a year and pretty much ran up the list of all the games I wanted to play that supported 3D, and the future isn't looking too bright with the swarm of DX11 games comping thanks to the new consoles which the community cant fix anywhere near as fast, so its not really what I'd call long term.
