Can you overclock a GT 740M to a GT 750M?

Hello, I was wondeing if it would be possible to overclock a GT 740M GPU to a GT 750M. The 750M only has 157 MHz higher core speed and 100 MHz higher memory speed. So would it be possible? Also what would the heat output be like? Thanks and have a great day.

mmm... i'm not sure you understood what i was trying to say.

1) they're different gpus. with totally different chips. an overclock won't change the fact the 740m will be slower even at the same clock speed. Think about it this way, an 8 cylinder 12 liter engine and a 4 cylinder 1.5 liter engine will both give you 3000 rpm. The problem is just because the 4 cylinder is spinning at 3000rpm like the 8 cylinder engine doesn't mean it's the same strength. The 8 cylinder engine probably has almost 500 horse power under the hood while the 4 cylinder has maybe 100. The 8 cylinder is a DIFFERENT engine. Just because it can run at the...
no. they're totally different cards on totally different architecture, so the clock speeds are not equal... for example the effective memory speed on the 750m is almost 5 times the speed on the 740m, even though the clocks are close in speed. This is because it's a different video card. The 750m has a larger bus too. Its not even based on the same graphics core structure (despite them sharing the 700 numbering). Also, you don't ever want to overclock a mobile part. CPU or GPU. the cooling on a laptop is barely good enough for their stock settings... it won't be good enough for an overclock.

What if i would apply IC Diamond Thermal compund or another themal compound before the overclock?

Just because it can run at the same RPM doesn't mean it's as strong or capable. The same with those gpus. Just because you might be able to overclock the 740m up to the same clock speeds as the 750m doesn't mean it will be equal or even close to the same performance as the 750m. The 750m is almost 50% stronger clock for clock then the 740m... it's like a 150hp engine vs the 100hp under the hood of the 740m.

2) Also, thermal paste won't help you get a serious overclock out of the 740m. as i said before generally speaking you don't want to ever overclock a laptop part. You can try it, i just don't suggest you do it.
