I am currently being utterly bottlenecked by my CPU, and I need that to change. I use this PC for gaming and multitasking. Currently it's outfitted with:

  • ■ ASUS M3N78-VM AM2+/AM2 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
    ■ AMD Athlon 7750 Black Edition (2 core 2.7GHz)
    ■ 4 gigs DDR2 Corsair RAM
    ■ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2GB
    ■ BFG Tech 680-Watt LS-680 Power Supply
    ■ Cooler Master Centurion 590 ATX Mid-Tower Case
From what I've researched, my most cost effective choices are either the FX-6350 or the FX-8320. With the so called "next gen" being outfitted with 8 cores, I'm leaning more towards the 8320. I haven't looked into Intel because from past experience they are much more expensive, but you guys will hopefully know more.

As for the Mobo, I just want something reliable. I plan on only having 8 gigs of ram and one GPU. Pretty much the most cost effective AM3+ is what I'm looking for. Corsair thus far has been perfectly fine for RAM.

One thing I'm not so sure about is my power supply. BFG is out of business now, but as far as I know, I've never had any problems. Is 680-Watts enough?

Thanks in advance!

Are you going to upgrade your graphics card as well or in the future? I would say 8gb + fx-6300 should be enough and a nice upgrade and to keep up with the gtx 560, but the list of memnarchon will be more powerful/futureproof and ideal for a powerful graphics card upgrade in the future.

I was actually recently toying with the idea of buying another used 560ti. If I end up doing that though I will need a different mobo. I found a few 560ti's craigslist so I'll see how much they want for one. But if they aren't being sold for around $100 I'll probably keep the mine.

Thanks. The only problem with the first one is that the ram you linked is currently not in stock for that price. If it was I would go for that. On the second one, I'm not planning on OCing at all, so is the cooler even going to be necessary?

Anytime :).
Nope the cooler is not necessary if you don't plan to overclock.

One last question. With the second build, what fps do you think I will be able to get on, say, ultra graphics on crysis? Under 30? I use a 1600x900 monitor, and my 560 is the 2GB version.
