Over Clocking Vengeance

Solution
OK, could try, enable XMP and select profile 1, save boot back to BIOS, then change DRAM freq to 1866, base DRAM timing to 10-10-10-27, and set DRAM voltage to 1.575 (or as close as it allows, if no joy, try raising the MC (memory Controller) voltage to 1.1 (not sure what mobo, if a P67 then MC voltage is probably listed as VCCIO voltage, if Z77 mobo then prob as CPUVTT , anyway, if no joy let me know the mobo model

I believe you can, but i suggest you shouldn't... i overclocked my Vengeance 4x4GB ram and within a day's time a stick stopped working..

The benifits aren't much, it isn't much of a difference in gaming atleast, i do not know about other applications which will benefit from a increase in RAM "100 MHz increase at max"

Thank You for your input Sir, much obliged.

But I need a definitive answer.

It is z77.

I'm going to try what you have told :) will be back with results..

However, in the bios, I simply changed the DRAM frequency to 1866 (without selecting the XMP profile or changing the voltages), saved it, rebooted and cpu z now shows :
Size8192 MB
Type DDR3-1866 - Dual Channel
Frequency 933.4 MHz (1:7)
Timings 9-11-11-28
Slot #1 ModuleCorsair - 4096 MB (10700)
Slot #2 ModuleCorsair - 4096 MB (10700)

Is it fine?? Can you kindly have a look at the validator...

Thanks man.. However i tried bumping it up to 2016 MHz or something like that, computer rebooted 2 times :p what the heck was that??? :D I again changed it to 1866 MHz and every thing was peaceful again

To get up there (2000+) prob would need to kick voltages up, if it was a K model and you had a slight OC on it, then the MC (memory controller) voltage would be a little higher already from the CPU OC (the MC is in the CPU) then might have to add DRAM voltage
