Hi everyone,
I am planning to upgrade my PC soon cause my Mobo is from 2007 and really needs to be replaced in order to fit new stuff. I am planning on buying new MOBO, CPU, RAM and HDD.
The main use will be for 3D design (a lot of Zbrush) and gaming.

I´ve been doing some research and for the moment this will be my final build between what I´ve got and what Im planning on buying (600-700€ budget):

Asus Z87 Pro
Intel i7 4770k

2x Nvidia QUADRO 3800FX
Thermaltake Thoughtpower XT 775W
G.Skill Ripjaws X 2x8Gb 1600Mhz
2x WD Caviar Black 500GB

My questions are:
1.Will be the 2x QUADRO 3800 FX the bottle neck of the computer? If not is there any bottleneck with tis configuration?
2.Would you choose antoher speed for the RAM?
3.Would you change the i7 for i5? I read that the performance in games is the same, but, what about general 3D Design (Not really a lot of rendering). Will I take advantage of Hyperthreading?
4.I am planning on overclocking, will be able the Power Supply to handle everything?
5.About the Overclocking... Will my current 4 80x80mm case fans + the default ones of the GPUs and CPU be enough cooling?
6.Will be recommendable to purchase a SSD for the OS and main programs?
7.Would you change any of the components?

Thankyou very much to all of you!

Solution
well if u can afford it get a gtx 7950 or 760 both very good, and if u got a little more to spend a 7970 or 770gtx would be wise.

but any of the above are very good cards.

4 case fans should be fine,

powersupply should be able to deliver power even do u overclock ur system.

ti and normal just means, normal less fast and ti superior model witch is faster.

its marketing for ya.

and yes the ti cards are worth the money depending on the model and such.

What size would you choose for OS and 3-4 3D programs?

So the fan that comes with the i7 4770k wouldn´t be enough, what will you recomend??
Two 500GB HDD for raid.
Yes the 3800FX has GDDR3 memory.

Starting at 128GB. Nothing smaller.[/quotemsg]

THank you, I Will take that on count, but for the moment I think I will stick with you HDDs in Raid due to budget limitations...

OK guys, a little update, acording to the main post, could somebody please try to answer these quiestions for me?
I´d really appreciate it, I´ve been doing some researchs but I still have those doubts.

Hi buddies and thankyou for your help I´ve finally bought the components.
I´ve chose:
CPU: Intel i7 4770k
MOBO: Asus Z87 Pro
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X 2x8Gb 2133
HDD: 2x Seagate Barracuda 500Gb

I am pretty happy with the setup but I just discovered how bad QUADRO graphics are for gaming. I was planning to use my 2 quadro fx 3800 in SLI, but apparently it only suports SLI multi OS that has no benefit for me, so now I decided I need to purchase a new GPU.
And I´ll love your help with this, my budget is around 400$.

1. I was looking at Gigabyte, EVGA and ASUS as manufacturers. COuld you tell me, given the same nvidia chip, what are the pluses and minors of each brand?
2. I was looking for nvidia GTX 760 - 770 but I am really not sure where to go in a budget/performance basis, should I go look into 6 series?
3. Could somebody explain me what´s exactly the difference between "Ti" and normal cards? Is it worth the plus on money?

Thankyou everybody!

P.S: I still have this two questions from the main post, I´d appreciate if someone´s able to answer me:
4. I am planning on overclocking, will be able the Power Supply to handle everything?
5. About the Overclocking... Will my current 4 80x80mm case fans + the default ones of the GPUs and CPU be enough cooling?

5) the case fans should be okay; however, the default fans for the CPU will not work and the default fan on the GPU depends on the fan it come with and how much you want to overclock. As for a GPU upgrade fan look at the Arctic Accelero Xtreme III

Ok, thank you guys, with your advices plus some benchmarks I´ve seen I´ve choose the GTX 770. Now my doubt is on manufacturers.... I was thinking on EVGA, what´s your opinion? My local dealer has both the 2Gb and the 4Gb model with around 65$ difference.... Is it worth to pay that extra for additional 2Gb?

TBH Im gonna buy a new monitor soon and not really sure where to go if 1920x1280 or 2560x1440 (setting me in a 2 monitor config even when I am not gonna set the games on using both, just for the 3d software).
I´ve heard that more vram is good for higher resolutions and multimonitor, could somebody confirm me that?

Last question, should I go for the 2556x1440 monitor even when that is gonna drop by 30 my fps in average (as seen in benchmarks). Or just grab a Full HD one saving 250$ and having better game performance at less resolution... I really don´t know what to do here... :s

As always guys thankyou very much for your great help! :)

in todays games u wont see the benefit for 4 vs 2gbs of vram, but if u wanna future proof it who knows when 4 gigs might be handy. i mean the 770 is def fast enought to run 4 gigs of vram, id say get it, also will u be gaming in 2560x1440 than 4gigs of vram might be handy if u play heavily modded games, if u just play 1080p and are on a budget of sorts, the 2 gigabyte version will be fine.

Even when there is still some difference in performance between GTX 780 and 770 I think I´d go for the 770 cause I think 780 is to expensive for my budget. That said I´ll go for the EVGA GTX 770 with 4Gb thinking on future games.

What Im still not sure is about the screen... :s
Taking on coun FULL HD is starting to be replaced by 4k resolutions what would you guys do? Will you go for more than FULL HD in 27"? Do you think I´ll notice a huge diference between both?

As always guys, thank you very much for the awesome help!! :)

Hmmmm I´ll take you advices on count! Thank you very much!! I´ll let you know when I bought everything! ;)

Not wanting to abuse but... What do you think is important to look for in a new case? (Apart from cooling capabilities).
I´ve put the eye in the Zalman´s Z11 Plus. Any critique to it?

And last of all could you recomend me some CPU cooler with a good price/performane relation? (I am planning on overclocking but nothing extreme, something like 4.5Ghz on my 4770k (as I read that is kind of easy to achieve and not dangerous).

Thank you again! ^^

i say looks and cable management and airflow are top priorities, also case room is good so u can install beefy coolers and long videocards, when i buy a case how deep and high it is is important to me, also how many hdd can be installed in it, yes heres a decent cooler, well 1 water and one air id go with water since its quieter and less combersome.

for air and this for water.

Actually I do need more help on a couple of things, just don´t wanted to abbuse... :p
Those are related to:
1. Case Fans not being detected by mobo.
2. ASUS Dual Intelligent Procecessors 4 not working as expected... :s

Should I ask that here or post 2 new threads?
Thanks for everything iceclock!! :)
