I'm going with 4gb. With 1 1080p monitor at 60hz, would I even see a difference between a 760 or a 770? Let alone one worth $150? I can't spend more than $460

Even though games are recommending more than 2gb of vram? My plan with 4gb is that if I am not impressed with next years models, I'll SLI the 4gb for a triple monitor set up

the only reason to get a 4gb version of either of those cards is if you planned to SLi in the future as BOTH cards are fast enough in SLi that 2gb would become a bottleneck. it isn't until you reach titan level performance a gpu is fast enough to use more then 2gb of vram outside of SLi/xfire.

If you're looking at a 4gb version of the 770, i suggest you look at the r9-290X, it's about the same price and will give you Titan level performance.

I suggest you go for a GTX 780 or a R9 290 with a decent cooler. Those would last you longest in a triple monitor set up.

*edit* forgot to say that you should wait! The Prices on the current Nvidia GPUs will go down soon. possibly December or January time.

I would, but it's about $100 too expensive for me. I can't really spend over $460. My main question is would I see a difference at 60hz 1080p between a 770 or 760, and one that would warrant $150. I would consider the 280x, but I like the nvidia bundle that starts tomorrow, and I want SLI as an option and I keep hearing xfire is still buggy

I wish. My budget is $460 atm

wait for the r9-290, it should be priced at 450, and it will give you 780 level performance. Furthermore, most of the benching on the new r9-290x in xfire is turning up "better" then nvidia frame pacing (and as always with xfire, much better scaling as well). And they don't even have a proper WHQL driver for the r9-290 series yet either.

so... yeah.... i wouldn't worry about xfire... seems like AMD finally got that issue mostly straightened out.

So, do I need that sort of performance for a single 1080p monitor at 60hz?

depends on what you're playing. BF4? sure you can use it. Crysis3? again, you can use that type of power. If you're not interested in games like that OR don't need to play with maxed out settings a GTX 660, GTX 760, r9-270x or HD 7950 will all be more then enough gpu for your needs.

all of those cards will hit 60fps on BF4 or Crysis 3 on medium or high settings. just won't do it on the highest ultra settings. so as i said. it depends on how you will play it. and what eyecandy you want.

Which brand of 280x do you think would be best? I'm feeling MSI

but....Battlefield 4 comes out Tuesday, which I preordered. A 770 with the Holiday Bundle sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Especially since I was going to buy Assassins creed anyways
