Witch one would I be better off with price wise, as the 1155 socket motherboards are being liquidated at fry's electronics http://www.frys.com/product/7661617?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN..., but is older technology

the i7 4770k is on the newer side of things, hopefully the same socked as the next release.

i7 4820k is a low end extreme 2011 socket cpu and the motherboards are not cheap!!

So what are your opinions on witch has the better price to performance ratio computing wise, gonna be using it for both medium to heavy gaming and video editing

Price to performance would be the 3770k because it will be cheaper than the other two for CPU and motherboard, and it is almost the exact same as the 4820 except the extra PCIe lanes and quad channel memory. And the extra PCIe lanes will only really help if you are using more than 2 graphics cards or if you are running 2 graphics cards and a bunch of other addon cards. The quad channel memory would only help in very specific occations. You will see almost no difference between the performance of the 3770k and the 4770k so I would stick with the older generation and get the 3770k.

I went with the 3770k and got a better heat sink and 32gb hyperx at 2133 and it's fast and great value.
