Hello everyone. ;)

I would like to ask your help to build my new computer. I already have in my house a new Mid-Tower NZXT Lexa Classic Series.

I will not do overclocking in my computer.

The equipment I have in my mind to buy is this:
- AMD FX 8350 Black Edition 4.0/4.2GHz;
- Seasonic Platinum 460W;
- Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.

My questions are:
- Which one you recommend: power supply of 460W or 550W?
- This motherboard from Asus is good or there's other much better?
- What is the best memory brand to buy? I will use 8GB/1866Mhz.
- What is the best cooling for the CPU?

I really appreciate all the help.

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,
John

Well i would get at least a 550W or 650W PSU for a gaming computer based on FX8350.
That is a good motherboard for use wit that CPU.

Memory brands: Corsair, GSkill, Mushkin & Kingston - the first two being the most popular.

Best cooling, probably a closed loop liquid cooler such a corsair H60 and the likes.
Your case isn't really equipped to handle them so an air cooler will work.

You will do fine with with a solid air cooler such as Cooler Master 212 EVO or Scythe Mugen 4.
Just measure out the case so that you will know that there is enough clearance a the coolers are pretty high.

Depending on your budget, I'd consider something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($184.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($124.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($92.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($58.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card ($316.13 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT LEXA S (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($0.00)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($44.99 @ NCIX US)

* CPU HSF is good for the $.
* RAM is fast and runs at stock voltage (1.5v) and also has LOW PROFILE heat spreaders, for clearance issues.
* Mobo has what you should need and doesn't cost too much.
* GPU is better than a 7970 and is still cost effective.
* Case is what you already have.
* PSU is plenty for any single GPU out there. You can go with the 650w version if you want more power.

Thanks a lot for the help my friends!

I'm torn between choosing a 520W Platinum Series (156€) or 550W Plus Gold (110€). What do you recommend?
Antec have a similar power supply - EarthWatts 650 Platinum - and it's cheaper (109€) but this power supply was not made by Seasonic but by FSP, you can see here: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page673.htm

What is the best CL and voltage (Memory) for this Motherboard and CPU?

Cheers.

Well personally you should be fine with any 80 PLUS Bronze PSU that is made by Seasonic, FSP, Antec, Corsair, PCP&C, and others. So if you find a quality PSU from one of those brands and it's at 80 PLUS Bronze or better than you will be fine.

As far as the RAM options, you should be fine with just about any RAM at 1600-1866 mHz at stock voltage of 1.5v. When you get to the faster RAM (which isn't always needed) you will start to find RAM that runs at 1.6-1.65v at listed speeds (2100-2900mHz). Generally if you stick with G.Skill, Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, etc. you should be okay. I prefer G.Skill, Corsair, Crucial, but that is just my preference based on personal experience.
