New laptop last January--used to play the Sims 3 for hours, now it crashes 5 min in with just the base game. What's going on?

I bought this laptop last Black Friday for the sole purpose of playing the Sims 3. I already had a desktop but it's older and made my game lag and run slow. This laptop ran it beautifully and never crashed. The hard drive failed after my laptop bag was banged and my laptop was on in sleep mode. I have to take it on the go a lot and was too lazy to turn it off. I took it back to Best Buy and got a new one, and again had hard drive failure (this time without personally causing damage to it lol) so I sent it in to have the hard drive replaced this time. I've read this model is famous for hard drive failure.

After, this computer seemed a little slower, but I felt like I was just being picky. My game still worked for months, but about summertime my Sims 3 game kept crashing. I thought it had to do with my custom content so I weeded out most of it. Then I removed it all completely, and then removed all saves, downloads, and caches, trying to start fresh with a new game. When that didn't work I tried removing and re-installing my last few expansions--when I thought the problem might of started. I have a 10 expansion packs and 6 stuff packs, but I thought maybe the installs were bad. Now I removed it all. All games, even uninstalling and re-installing the base game. The first time I played again I made a family and played for about an hour and half before a crash. Now it will crash after 5 minutes.

I monitored my fps and it stayed about 35-70, always less than 100. My computer does get very hot, but I used to play for hours, stupidly, with a hot laptop and all that ever happened was lagging. When I would go to the task manager after a crash, the CPU would run at 100% around the time of the crash (crash to desktop that is). Could my laptop be aging already
Hopefully, if I can not find a way to make my game work I can at least make HP take this back since it has not been a year since last Black Friday, but of course, the clock is ticking. I don't want this laptop if it won't do what I bought it for.

This is really a puzzle to me and any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

So you're saying you've had not 2 but 3 seperate versions of the same Laptop model, and each one is experiencing issues?

Dude, after the 2nd Hard Drive failure, I'd tell whomever sold it to you to shove it up where the sun will most definitely shine after I'm done doing so verbally, and go online and find a better laptop. You can then also review it online to make sure it's worth it...Heck...If all you wanna do is play The Sims 3? I'd go to The Sims website and ask them yourself what a good build would be to run the game. You can then find something online that is practically not just purchased, but even 'built' for the specific purpose of running The Sims 3(Indirectly of course).
And if you're afraid of the price? I'd personally be willing to forego my favorite game until the next Black Friday hits so I can purchase a newer and better, probably even pre-reviewed from home model for about the same price, thereby pretty much losing nothing for the mess up except time.
^ That's just me though.

But staying with that computer? Nope, and I'd call you a Saint and give you a medal for STILL sticking with the model even after confirming notorious rumors.
And if you're worried about waiting? I'd advice you to act now and simply pull your Warranty and get your money back. Then wait patiently till next Black Friday and get a PC much better than the piece of trash you returned with good riddance(remember to check and then double check online to make sure the model you're considering to get is not notorious for hardware bugs!!! Consider the time till Black Friday, some time you can spend checking around.)

And I see that you pretty much have the Laptop version of my Desktop; HP Envy h8-1414 Desktop PC. I can tell you, mine has its bugs too. I personally have a hardware bug right now which causes my computer to reboot automatically whenever its Idle...And heaven forbid I put it into sleep mode...I have to open my PC and replug every component before it'll turn back on again.

Getting this HP piece of **** replaced for christmas. Can't wait to build my own. SO done with prebuilt storebrand.
