Good day, Guys!

First of all, I am not really a "techy" person so I'm not good on giving certain info or using computer jargon like graphics card, video card, hard drive, etc. Anyway...

I am using Acer Aspire 4738ZG with Intel Pentium Processor P6200 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. It's using Windows 7 by the way (I'm not sure if this info is needed but I still mentioned it anyway). I set it to sleep after 15 minutes. Now here's the problem: my laptop went to "sleep" and after sometime (~2 hours after), I tried to "wake up" the laptop my resuming the session. The laptop seems to wake up but there is no monitor display, just plain black screen. I restarted my laptop and still gives me the black screen. The thing is I can here the sound it makes when the log in screen appears. I blindly type my log in password and it gives off another sound indicating successful log in. I assumed that my laptop is booting normally. It just doesn't show any display.

Things I did....
1.) I tried the "at least 60 sec. power button pressing" method. Removed the battery, pressed the power button for at least 60 sec. Reattached battery again and then turn the power on.

Result: No changes

2.) Removed and reattached the graphics card.

Result: No changes

3.) I tried attaching the laptop to a working external monitor.

Result: The monitor doesn't seem to detect anything, another plain black screen.

4.) Let the "Acer" technician fix it (No really sure if he was REALLY Acer accredited).

Back Story: He said that the mother board was faulty and there is this "reheating" process as the ONLY way of fixing it. However, it is a 50-50% gamble: 50% chance it will be fixed, 50% chance the mother board will be totally screwed. I got scared so I backed out. However, he somehow fixed it and told me it has something to do with the Bios system (Again, I am not knowledgeable with this).

Result: Solved (TEMPORARILY)

My laptop went to hibernation and I left it at its state for another few hours since I was busy doing something else. When I'm about to resume the session, the same problem happened again.

Final Result: The same old problem.

I don't want to go back to the shady Acer technician since I will be paying him another bucks for the same problem. Can somebody help me on this, how to remedy this or perhaps at least explain the most probable cause of this problem?

I really appreciate your help!

i had the same problem with my laptop a while ago. i never truly found out the problem, but i went to technicians who said there was a corrupted start-up folder. and to top that off, my processor was too small to begin with and failed my after installing games, downloading things ect... but because its just a problem with display, it could be a power supply problem or maybe you dropped the laptop and a wire came loose.
