My AMD build theory

Ive spent the better part of a month researching and switching out parts. I cant tell you how much I used the knowledge here, and now I feel I am 100% complete on my build, I wanted to turn back to the community (which is awesome, by the way) that I came to countless times researching.

I wanted to stay under $600 for the computer. I wanted to do an AMD build, because ive had intel the last 5 years, and wanted to try something different, and the fx6300 is definitely different.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($112.97 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ Outlet PC)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($114.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card ($159.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Apevia X-SNIPER2-WHT ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Mwave)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($44.99 @ Microcenter)
Total: $572.89

I plan on using a 750gb hard drive and windows 7 from a salvage computer I got for free from a friend, this gave me the necessary room to purchase a better gpu.

I plan on overclocking slightly once the build is up and running and remains stable.

The graphics card may be a bit overboard for my needs, but it is a little future proof, and who knows, once I get this built, I may start gaming more, but this will also benefit my career-in-progress as a network IT/programmer, not sure which side of the fence to lean towards yet.

I spent more on the case than I wanted to, but come on, it looks cool!

I would appreciate any tips on how to trim a little bit more fat, maybe around the ram, or mobo possibly?

I can still use the cd drive from the salvage computer if need be to save $17, or I may put both in to make copying cd's easier.

How about something all from Microcenter? I assume there is one near you since some of your parts links are for there. The bundle savings allow you to add an SSD boot drive...

All At Microcenter

Memory: Microcenter 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $65

This mobos a nit cheaper and if you can find another combo, could save you a bit more.

Dunno what Coolder master that is, but If it has more than 15% one star reviews on newegg/amazon, don't buy it. Check the model out. Make sure its popular. PSU market is usuallt hit and miss models unless you buy the best trusted brands. (spend another $30 on your PSU so you don't have to spend another $600 on a new PC . . . .trust me, not a part to cheap out on. hold off on Buying ram. Find a nice model on sale, you could easily save yourself $20 bucks. got my G.Skill Snbiper series 8gb @1866 for only $65, and theres even cheaper for better out there. Nice decision on CPU and 7870. I know you are going on a considerably low budget (my high end is gonna cost me $1200, xP makes my bank account cry feed me) but don't drop that CPU or 7870 for worse parts. I got the frx 6100, and if not extremely OC'd, It bottlenecks my cheapo gt640 . . . 6300 is that magic CPU model.
If you can find a cheap 7950 on sale for under $180, buy that instead. Quite a bit better than the 7870 ghz for around the same prices.
750gb is nice for this, and free OS! Jealous. Just put a bit more into the PSU and possibly drop the MOBO down to an EVO, you'll be happier with it. To put that MOBO into perspective, I'm using the SAME ONE in my $1200 build with an 8350 and crossfired R9 290's . . . .(7950 is only recommended if you happen to find one thats thats as much as a 7870)
Hope I helped save you a bit of money!

I changed the ram to Patriot Signature which dropped the price about $20, Then went with a Corsair 500w +80 bronze psu, seemed to be the most popular and actually about $10 cheaper. Also removed the dvd drive, I will just reuse the one from the donor computer.

So now with rebates, I am down the $575, not bad I think. I could go with a cheaper case, but Ill stick with this one.
