I was originally going to get a GTX 770 but then decided on a R9 280x. I read the Sapphire Toxic was basically the best 280x and could compete with the 770. Only problem is the Toxic is out of stock and I don't know how long of a wait that could mean. My current video card just died so I can't use that one in the mean time (GeFroce 560 Ti). So I can use onboard video if the wait time is like a week, but I'd really like to get a GPU ASAP. I heard it could be until late next month that they get them in stock, I cannot wait this long to get a video card. I've heard good things about the Asus 280x's.

Any suggestions? I have some budget room available, but I'm not sure what my best course of action is.

Here's the current build, everything but the video card is ordered:

The new AMD cards are great, but because their new their gunna be pricy, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... this is a great gpu from AMD, or if you're willing to pay more you could get the http://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Overclocked-Utilities..., both are great cards and it comes down to which manufacture you prefer, also this is a very helpful site showing the benchmarks of nearly every single gpu in production http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html ;3

P.S The 770 is very good as well, just to put that in the mixing bowl ;p

Go for a msi 280x or a asus 280x. They all perform the same, but with other designs, coolers, and how loud they are. I like more the msi one because he looks so great and the airflow is nice. But I see that it is also out of stock so go with the asus one.

I don't think AMD's new GPUs are that great. Their HD 7xxx series cards come with free games so I feel that they're a better deal

Are you planning on overclocking ? If not , you can get a cheaper CPU and lower wattage PSU.

Ya, going to OC. Not really concerned with the three free games. So I guess my main options are probably GTX 770, R9 280x, or HD 7970

actually , the R9 280x is a Rebranded HD 7970. So let's clear that off the list. So now for the GTX 770. It comes with Batman Arkham Origins for free and has similar performance to the HD 7970. So you could get that , or Buy the HD 7970 and sell the 3 games to your friends.
