I've a PC ,laptop and a modem which has 4 lan ports
PC OS : windows 7 ultimate (X64)
LT OS : windows 7 professional (X86)
and they were interconnected some what like below and modem also acts as router

now even though I shared some of my laptop partition and folders within the home group, I can't access any of them in my PC and I ended up with this error

then I thought something wrong with home group, when I checked it it showed this message

however adding 'everyone' to security resolves this issue,I'm still a bit spectacle why homegroup won't work ? what did I miss ?and one more question since the data from the laptop transferred through the modem(since it acts as router) will that transaction considered as my internet usage from my ISP?

Solution
hello first you need to set permissions second dont access it from HomeGroup folder go to control panel than network and internet than view network computers and devices and to set permissions right click folder select properties than click on sharing tab than click share tab and over there you can add users and select permission as Read only or read and write
