I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2Ghz processor. I have upgraded memory to the max capacity of 4 GB and upgraded the video card to a Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 1GB plus upgraded the Hard Drive to a WD Blue 1 TB. What I want to know is what would be the best processor upgrade for this computer? I have looked at a AMD A10-5800K APU 3.8Ghz Processor. Would that work or not? Suggestions?

Solution
Your board is socket AM2 and does not support new CPU's like the APU listed, Only upgrade you can do is a faster AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core for socket AM2.

Problem with changing the motherboard is that you will probably need a new case as well. OEM's use proprietary front panel connectors in their systems. Also, you will need new ram for a CPU and motherboard upgrade. Don't waste your money on that APU either. For the price of that APU, you could get a far better FX 6300.
