Recently almost all the components in my computer broke (GPU, CPU, Hard drive and power supply) so I upgraded it all and everything worked fine on every game I played until recently I downloaded borderlands 2 which crashes every 5-10 minutes apart from occasionally I get a clean run from any time between 1-5 hours. I have tried everything to fix this Updating bios, downloading new drivers for everything, playing it on minimum settings which (made no difference), verifying game cashe, reinstalling borderlands 2, reinstalling windows, running avg tune up literally everything I could think of I tried and it failed. Other games I play include league of legend, garrys mod, portal 1 and 2, dead island 1 and 2, skyrim, chiveraly and terraria which all work fine on max settings. I have a radeon 7950 hd 3gb

First don't EVER post specs like that again, those are totally meaningless. Just because it looks 'techie' and you don't understand any of it, doesn't mean it will just magically make the answer appear when you ask for help. Use something like SPECCY to tell us ALL your Hardware (like video card for example) specs which are helpful.

That said, your system info you provided has a few issues, first being, that you have LESS THEN 2GB of Physical Ram available on a 4GB system!?!? So either your running Windows x32 Bit (which CAPS at 3GB, no matter how much memory you put in, you have alot of programs running (NEVER good for gaming) or something is using your memory (do you have onboard video graphics?).

The first solution would be to buy Windows x64 instead of x32, this will let your system address more then 3GB, which is needed for games like BL2 (specs require minimum 2GB be available http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/pc-games/bord...) . Second then would be to upgrade to 8GB of RAM to help compensate for your system needs.

Second solution, cut out alot of background apps. You don't need music playing, IM clients open, etc. There is plenty of free software out there to help like AMDs Game Booster.

Third would be to get into BIOS and turn off onboard video IF YOU HAVE A SEPERATE VIDEO CARD, and not allocate the RAM to it since you don't need to.

That said, your CPU sucks for BF2 (http://www.techspot.com/review/577-borderlands-2-perfor...). It is well known AMD CPUs can't match the performance of a the Intel iCore series. The highest end most expensive AMD CPU performs JUST at a i5Core level. Your best solution would be to look to swap your computer out for iCore based one, which will INCLUDE ALREADY IN THE COST more memory AND Windows x64 (saving you those costs). We here in the States are having Thanksgiving which has Black Friday after it for major shopping for the holidays. The week or two before BF they clear space by GREATLY REDUCING items to get them out of stock, so you could pick up around this time a i5Core based desktop for around $249USD , then pay for a upgraded Power Supply (PSU) of around 600W or better for a decent video card add in. You save alot of money this way, and you still have a underwarranty, with OS, etc. then piecemealing it where it will cost you more in the end.

First off it says at the end of the text I have a radeon 7950 HD 3GB,

>>> Sorry my bad for missing that.

secondly my system is 64 bit and borderlands 2 is a 32 bit game anyway?

>>> Yes but that is different then what I am discussing the amount of memory physically in your computer available for application under a 32Bit OS is limited to only 3GB (you have only 4GB in your system), but 64Bit can open up alot more memory to multiple programs better, so that is why I mentioned it. A 64Bit system is NOT normally sold with 4GB, usually 6GB min, normally 8GB, as 4GB is not enough.

But I appreciate what you said about the iCore series but my whole system is within the specs

>>> Please remember there is a distinct different between 'in specs' and 'recommended'. When they list MINIMUM, they are stating the lowest system that the game can RUN (not PERFORM - two different wording) with all settings at the lowest possible. A 'recommended' system is what will provide 'Average Joe User' normal (medium level) game play and PERFORMANCE. The legal teams are very very specific on using those words to avoid litigation they said something would 'perform' (a expectation and level of feedback) and something 'runs' (something that turns on and off).

about my most recent crash also I just enabled Quad core but two of the cores may be dodgy and at the time I looked in my system information I had alot of background apps open

>>Please see the http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/pc-games/bord... , it states you need 2GB of RAM to play the Game dedicated to the Game, AND a QuadCore. Also this game is made for XP Sp3 minimum, have you tried right clicking the EXE properties and selecting COMPATIBILITY MODE, and setting RUN AS ADMIN, and as XP SP3?

>>>The memory, while you had alot of programs running, is still on the low end for the system (normally should be 6-8GB, so about 2GB is used for loading drivers, loading fonts, creating GUI, running Antivirus at all times, etc.). Your stating HALF the cores are 'iffy' in functionality, so that drops you down to Dual Core performance, and half the memory to perform the functions. Now add in http://www.techspot.com/review/577-borderlands-2-perfor... these realworld tests which stated alot of problems for the AMD FX (required a BIOS update of the Mobo, have you checked yours and your video card?) as well as "we found the dual-core AMD Phenom II X2 and Athlon II X2 to be incapable of maxing Borderlands 2, which is optimized for quad-core processors...It seems your CPU choice may be more crucial to Borderlands 2's performance than your GPU choice and you'll definitely want to play with a quad-core chip. For the best value combo, we recommend an Ivy Bridge Core i5 with the GTX 660 or GTX 660 Ti, depending on your resolution and preferred frame rate."

So yes the other game designs (league of legend, garrys mod, portal 1 and 2, dead island 1 and 2, skyrim, chiveraly and terraria) may "all work fine on max settings", those programs are not the samething as BL2 and how it was 'created' (video engines, type of coding done, etc.). Considering these things together I am pointing to, and the recommendation, it maybe (just like alot of us) that you hit your 'peek' on your system and is now time to consider something else, "depending on your resolution and preferred frame rate". Because this issue is SOLELY based on this game, so it isn't a overall problem with Windows / Drivers that would affect ANY similiar coded games (and you test it with alot of good variations there FYI).

MY Specs: Alienware m17xR2
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
CPU : Intel Core i7 740QM @ 1.73GHz 68 °C
Clarksfield 45nm Technology
RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz (8-8-8-23)
Graphics Acer GD235HZ (1920x1080@100Hz)
1535MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M (Dell) 47 °C
Hard Drives
233GB Samsung SSD 840 Series (SSD) 48 °C
932GB Seagate ST1000LM014-1EJ164 (SATA) 41 °C

I am at the end of my lifecycle with these latest upgrades and have about 18months to a year left on this system before I hit 'the limit' it can perform for games and newer tech. Considering it was released in 2010 and I will have made this system last nearly 5 years, only then to 'suffer' without things others have because I would need a new modern system isn't that bad of a payoff.

I understand now that a lot of my system can/should be upgraded but due to me have just bought a new radeon 7950 HD 3GB because my GTX 550ti broke down after a year and a bit of usage so i highly doubt that will be changed till it breaks as to the mother board on the other hand I think I will most likely upgrade because it was given as a gift/replacement for my old motherboard because it that wasn't working at all and I may get a memory upgrade but the point is even on minimum settings, physx off and it still crashes

I sympathize, but I am as well trying to direct you that BL2 isn't all 'video card', so buying a nice video card won't matter with "minimum settings, physx off ". YOU WILL CRASH with less then 2GB available when playing AND half the Cores 'iffy'.

Your not seeing that the software has to be processed in chunks (memory) to the cores (CPU) then assigned the code to the GPU to perform (chunks = GPU memory / processing-rendering = GPU) to then display. So when your moving the mouse / ASDW to 'input' what you want to happen in game, this still have nothing to do with your Radeon, that is Windows / CPU / Memory understanding your 'inputs' and processing the 'output' (you dodge left then run forward) to tell the GPU to render it.

See all I described has to do with the amount of memory and CPU cores necessary to support the game basic functions, nothing to do with 'rendering' (minimum settings, physx off) that you keep coming back to,

I think by your own answers your entire system had issues, and you piecemealed back into the same case (GPU, CPU, Hard drive and power supply) was a bad move. To me this screams a short in the case or how you potentially wired things in it and fries / will continue to fry parts over time. Further you didn't say you replaced the Mobo initially just the CPU, and you don't mention if you ever replaced the memory (another 'broken' part you may not realize either).

Personally if you had a total system failure, just get a new box to start fresh in, and upgrade it. For example with Black Friday coming up the week / 2 before they clear old stock out with deep discounts, can nab a i5Core desktop for example for only $249, which includes OS, 6-8GB Mem, 500+GB HDD, case, keyboard mouse (sometimes even LCD!) and integrated video with PSU. Swap the PSU and put in the video card (disable onboard video) and now your got still under warranty new gaming rig able to do Mid-High even on BF4. I also seen awesome deals by perusing Walmart.com of systems similarly for around $449 with low end gaming cards, 1TB HDD and 8-12GB RAM already included. Just a thought if you keep seeing the CPU / Memory being the issue and the cost for those in comparison to what I just recently seen myself when looking, might be a better deal for you to consider.
