1920x1080 dosent work with amd card

Hi first of all let me kiss your ass by saying you guys have been very helpfull with choosing parts for my computer.

My problem is that i cant get my 1920x1080 to work.

i have a XFX Radeon HD 7950 Black Double - 3GB but once i put in the hdmi cable into my monitor from the either one of the outputs from the card it just says no signal.

It works fine with an hdmi to a vga (thought i cant go up to 1920x1080) but not the hdmi to hdmi.

Hope you guys can help me.

  1. Is your monitor even 1080p?

Try turning on the monitor first and then the pc. Also, it could be a bad HDMI cable?

God dammit im sorry for putting you though this. i just needed to turn it off and on again WITH the cable already plugged in.
    Thanks.

No problem man, glad I could help!
  6. Have you tried using a different HDMI cable yet? (looking at Z-boss' latest comment)

I found a thread describing a similar problem, the OP narrowed it down to the software he was running (Guild Wars 2 the game/MMO): http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1652264/xfx-7950-hdmi-port-loses-signal.html

Or it could be an HDMI driver/software issue:
