I'm switching from an old Nvidia Geforce 210 so I'm going to have to re-format, install windows 7 etc. My motherboard doesn't have an integrated display (Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3) so when I do all this, will this GPU work without pre-existing drivers? I've heard people say it won't show a display until you install the AMD/ATI drivers...

Specific GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

If need be I do have an old Radeon x300 128mb I can put in just to install the drivers however I don't know where it is so it may not be an option.

More about : upgrading asus r9280x

It will also work without the drivers. You just wont be able to play games without the driver

That, and so many other 280x's are out of stock, plus the 290x's. Any clue when they might become available, again?
