I've recently installed some new-old games through Steam and they automatically install different versions of MS Visual C++ and .NET framework but don't allow me to specify a location. I now see a bunch of new files on my storage drive and wonder if Visual C++ was randomly installed on that drive (no other system files on the drive) or if Steam simply unpacked a zip file on that drive. How do I find out if these files can be deleted?

Solution
Typically, games are compiled with a SPECIFIC version of the MSVC++ runtime. 99.9% of the time, as long as you have one installed, it will work across the board, since the runtime doesn't change that much release to release.
