My Screen Flickers at the top edge almost every 20 minutes randomly, ever since i upgraded my graphics card. :(
Upgraded from MSi 660Ti PE to Gigabyte R9 280x OC. My 3570K has Turbo Boost increased to 4.2 ~ 4.0Ghz at stock voltage.
Using an HDMI Cable.

Please Help!

1. No, its not the Monitor -- I've tried using the Onboard Integrated GPU, and theres no flickering.
2. No, its not the Driver -- No Driver conflicts as Windows was reinstalled and I am using Catalyst 13.101.
3. No, theres no flickering when playing games -- its very strange that it happens only while using windows.

What should i do to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Any advice on optimizing Catalyst Center?

CCC 13.101? you mean 13.11? there are 2 versions of 13.11 officially released by amd, 13.11 beta 1 and 13.11 beta 6, and of course beta 6 is the latest one. You may be using beta 1, try beta 6.

I tried installing the beta drivers but couldnt .. Said, 'incompatible software or hardware.'

13.101 is the driver that I'm using.

Thanks for the reply.

well, at least install the driver that came with the card. r9 280x is one of latest card and you need 13.11(whether it's beta 1 or 6) to recognizes it as it is. Older driver might identify your card as 7970 and cause problems.

edit: it looks like you're using 13.6 catalyst(13.101 is driver version number) which released in June. why do you even use this?

Done. Installed Beta 7 (13.11 -- 0ct. 28th 2013)
Still has random flicker though :(

try using different cable; dvi, displayport. If this doesn't work... there's high chance your card's just a dud. My first r9 280x(msi) was a defect too and had to return it.

You must install the latest amd beta drivers for the PC to recognize and utilize your GPU correctly. Only the beta drivers support r9 cards.

And the best way to fix the flickering is to over clock the gpu's idle clocks.

You should try increasing the idle clocks to stop the flickering.

I wish nvidia would give lessons to amd in power-saving features so that amds cards wouldn't struggle at idle clocks like they do :p

Check if gigabyte has a vbios update for your card. This is a known issue with r9 280x cards, I had the same problem with my sapphire 280x. I was able to fix it with a vbios update from sapphire, but afaik AMD is also working on fixing this at the driver level.
