I have a cx 600 power supply and was wondering if I could put a gtx 770 or 780 in my system. I'm currently running a MSI HD 7870 2gb oc edition.

Since you said cx 600, is it a Corsair? If it is, is it the CX600M? The regular CX models are pretty iffy when it comes to reliability, but the "M" models parts are made by a different company and are more reliable. I have a CX600M and I run a OCd GTX 770 with an OCd 3770K perfectly stable. It has plenty of amps on the 12V rail for that card. I can't remember how many amps the 780 needs, but you should be able to run it on a decent 600W PSU. Just so you know, although the Corsair CXM series is a decent power supply, many will recommend stepping up from that range to a more output oriented model. I haven't had any problems and I've been using the CXM series for a while, but it is technically not the application they are made for. Corsair's TX series and I believe they have a gamer series as well, are more made for the high output that high end gaming parts need.

It is a Corsair CX600. No "M".

It should run it just fine, I've just heard that the regular CX models aren't very reliable for longevity.

True basically because they do not have high quality Japanese capacitors. All because it is a budget line.
Total system load with a single GTX780 does not reach 450watts even so 600watts leaves some headroom. http://anandtech.com/show/7356/capsule-review-evga-gefo...

100% agree, you can run a Titan on a top quality 500W PSU lol, the headroom is key with a budget power supply for sure :-)
