Is my video card safe?

Hi, I just bought a used video card from a friend (HIS Radeon Hd 7870 Ghz). He didn't have the original box it came in, but he put the card inside a cardboard box (which is kinda tight, required a little pulling to get it out). Is the card save from ESD in there? I also got it out of the box to inspect it -- I was standing on a plastic mat (the ones for office chairs to roll on) and handling the card on a wooden desk. I grounded myself by touching the bare metal of my power supply. I handled the card by the metal (where the DVI connectors are and whatnot) and the cooler. However, I could've sworn I had a hair strand brush up against the PCB as I was inspecting it.

Given all these factors, do you all think the card is fine?

Should be fine, they aren't quite that fragile, only way to find out is to install it and load it up :-)

Don't have a PSU for it yet, building a rig after Black Froday/Cyber Monday sales.

once the card is out of the original antistatic package it is exposed to outside environment and is never "save" in terms you wish it to be , but this shouldn´t realy bother you , the card is just fine , you did everything you possibly could in terms of safety ...

gotcha, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Cardboard isn't conductive, and a strand of hair is nothing to worry about. The card should be just fine :-) Good Luck with your build!
