Hi, I've been using my PC with the GPU intact for the past three years with very little trouble until recently. When I turned on my PC the machine powered up and I could observe all the fans running normally.. except the monitor did not get a display.
I'm trying to check my GPU and PCIE-2.0 slot by checking with a different GPU on my machine and my GPU on a different machine but it seems unlikely that I might get assistance any sooner where I live. Would request some help on what I may have missed and what I could potentially try to get things back on track.
After a few hours of painstaking cleaning and testing I found that every time my GPU is not connected in the PCI-e 2.0 slot, where it usually resides otherwise the system would boot without issues.
And when the GPU would be connected on subsequent tests the DRAM LED in my motherboard would flash in Red occasionally but fail to put up display.
The fact that using the same DVI cable to plug in directly to the motherboard from the monitor pretty much ruled out faulty cable scenario.
I'm quite certain that the GPU is connected properly in the motherboard with the appropriate connection as the same worked pretty much for 3 years untouched.
At this point I believe that the trouble maybe with either my GPU or the PCI-E 2.0 slot neither of which I hope has not failed me.
During the course of troubleshooting and following googling I did try to uninstall all the Catalyst drivers and re-install the latest ones afresh. In one instance I did get a BSOD of not being able to install ATI HiDefinition audio but couldn't find more about such an issue or get to see it again.
