Hello, I just built a new computer and it was working absolutely fine for 3 days, and just now out of the blue it will not power on.

Just the top fan of the ANTEC tower moves a bit for a fraction of second, and some leds in the MOBO are also lit for the same amount of time, along with the diagnostic leds of the MOBO (GA-Z77X-UD5H). So I tried power from the built in power button in the mobo, same result. Actually it only responds for this fraction of second on the first attempt. It only responds again if power is removed and connected back.

I removed all components, leaving only MOBO and PSU, same thing happens.

I do not understand what could have happened between yesterday and today to fry my new computer!

Question is PSU or MOBO is faulty?

[strike]I figured it out.

When I assembled the computer with the mess of all the power cables I connected by mistake one of the pin PCI express power cables to the PSU itself, in the slot for additional power, so it was kind of sending power to itself? I do not really know, but after changing that everything is fine.

Somehow it was working fine for three days under that condition. I believe that the PSU was charged with static or something like that.

Thanks anyway Tiny voices for the interest shown :)[/strike]

Sorry I need to make a big correction. It was the DVD power connector going to the PSU connector for peripherals, I did not connect it this time, and when connected it failed again.

Unplugging the cable did not solve so I removed the MOBO battery and it worked, when connecting again the cable everything works including the DVD.

I am afraid it will fail again, and it has something to do with the CMOS battery, as with just a CMOS reset ti did not solve, I had to remove the battery. Any idea what could be wrong?
