For quite some time now I haven't been able to connect to the internet through Ethernet. I've been using a wireless connection but i really want to get all the speed that I am paying for. Whenever I try to connect the Ethernet cable It'll say unidentified network or just keep identifying and I'll have no internet access. When I troubleshoot the problem it will say "local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration". I am pretty stuck on what to do because I just want to connect using the Ethernet cable >:l

Whenever I type IP config in the command prompt this appears :

C:\WINDOWS\system32>ipconfig

Okay I checked my device manager but I don't see a yellow triangle with a ! in it. But under network adapters I have 3 things :
802.11n Wireless LAN Card
Anchorfree HSS VPN Adapter
Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller

Have you tried another ethernet cable?

Okay, I have two other Ethernet cables and I tried with both of them to no avail. When I hook one end to the modem and the other to my computers NIC it still will just say identifying network with limited access under it. I wait and it won't even identify the network. And when I troubleshoot it just says "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP Configuration"

OK....powercycle the modem, and then plug it in. Possibly reboot the PC as well.

Default Gateway should have shown up as 192.168.1.1 not 0.0.0.0

it didn't seem to get the dns from the Router so put that in

Default Gateway is still showing as 0.0.0.0

you can copy and past the numbers in.
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.147
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

NS2-AUTH.WINDSTREAM.NET 162.39.164.15

Maybe also try the ip and mask from the first post just in case.

IPv4, then advance, and go to WINS, and add the ip from the gateway there.

192.168.1.1

Do you have itunes? ... UNINSTALL Bonjour from the add/remove control panel

Configure > power management > uncheck the checkbox allowing computer to turn off the adaptor to save power

Here's it how to :-

1- Make sure u have intel network driver installed i ur windows it pc. Download it ( on any other pc and transfer and install it into this one) and install it in ur respective windows 8 pc. Here's the link to download it :- http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/INTEL/Int...
Den download realtek lan driver from here install it http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/REALTEK/I... in installing theres any error ignore it..dont panic and reinstall..as it will already be installed

2-unplug your LAN cable and wireless connection

3-Go to network and sharing center den on d left side click on change adapter settings left clik on intel network adapter

4-Go to "Ethernet Adapter local area connection" properties and deselect ''Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)''

5- select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)"

And press Properties button

6- select "Use the following IP address:" option and set this ips

IP= ''ur ip address''

subnet mask=255.255.255.0

default gateway = your router ip (you can recheck all dis from any other pc having a successful conection wid dis same one by checking the properties of d connection or from any smart phone like any iphone or android mobile if it is used as a wifi too by seeing staus/properties of ur respective wifi name )

7- from second section select "Use the following DNS server addresses:"

set "PreferAlternate DNS server:" your router ip which u entered in ''default gateway'' above. press ok and try to connect through lan then wireless

You may check new applications which just installed on your computer. Uninstall starting from the latest one, after that try to troubleshoot problems. I have done this and successful.
