7870 LE upgrade to R9 280X? worth it?

I currently have a Powercolor 7870 XT! It's a 7900 series card. Would it be worth it to sell it and buy a $300 R9 280x? It would cost me about $170 to upgrade because I can get about $130 on ebay for my current card.

Wouldn't be worth it in my estimation. I doubt you'd see a difference without benchmarking.

Definitely not... 7870 me is fast. I can't find anything my 7850 won't run maxed out...

I had 2 x HD 7870 OC cards in CF and they struggled with Metro 2033 and Last Light at the maximum highest settings.

The 280X or the GTX 670 would top out at your $300 price range. More powerful than your HD 7870, but not worth it cost wise in my estimation. If you just want to have better, then go for it.

Unless you have a slow CPU, I can't imagine the HD 7870/7950 not maxing out all/most games at that resolution. Are you having frame rate issues?

No I'm not. I'm just concerned about BF4. I could only maintain decent frames at medium settings. While BF3 I could completly max out all fancy filters included.

If you are comparing the beta BF4, wait until the release. (Oct 29) Some betas are poorly supported by the latest drivers and will work better when the game is released and new drivers are available.

Remember BF4 is BETA, it's final performance, both of the game code and the updated card drivers is as yet unknown.
I'd be surprised if your current rig struggles too much when the final code is released and the drivers suitably tweaked.

I only have a 1600x900 monitor plus remember bf4 will support mantle and so will your card.
