Hello,

I've a lot of trouble since i got my AMD Radeon 6850 graphics card, from white lines of pixels around the edges of objects in games to general poor performance. I first installed drivers from the disk, and hadn't updated them for a while, until i got the drivers i have now, 12.104. The AMD site has been down a lot, so i only today found out that the newest drivers for my card (i think) are the 13.9 ones. i want to update, but windows says my drivers are up to date. i have also tried the auto detect program by AMD, but that has broken things in the past for me. what should i do?

thanks,

Chris

EDIT:
also should mention, I've heard AA is a problem/solution for the jagged lines, like here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/315290-33-jagged-flickering-edges-games

however AA absolutely KILLS my performance in games, mostly making them unplayable.

Why not downgrade the drivers to a version which actually works?
I have the same graphics but made by sapphire, no issues with the current drivers here, I would advise downgrading, if that doesn't work check your pc temperature, voltage (if you overclock maybe bring it down a notch), check your gfx vents and fans for dust and other stuff which may bring the temperature up.

i've downgraded before, and it didnt really help. what i really want to do is get new drivers, like this guy did:

"I tried about 100 different things to get this artifacting glitch fixed and this is the only thing, in this order that did it for me.

I have an XFX 7970Ghz Edition so if you have an AMD card give this a try. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Add or Remove a Program > Uninstall AMD Catalyst Control Center & any other AMD/ATI programs you have there > Select custom uninstall and make sure everything is selected > once everything has been removed go to C: and delete the AMD folder > then Program Files and delete the ATI Technologies folder. Make sure you download the Catalyst 13.1 driver and then restart the computer before you try installing it.

Upon restart locate the 13.1 driver installer and run it, install everything on it and that's it. Artifact free gaming :D As I said this worked for me, I scoured the web too it seems that other people are having this exact issue and its related to the 13.2 beta 5 drivers that are currently out. It's probably possible to roll back to the 13.2 beta 4 drivers too but I haven't tried it myself, I found something that worked and ran with it.

Hopefully this helps you. I know how frustrating this problem is. I had just bought my 7970 about 10 days ago and had this issue from day one was about thinking about even RMA'ing my card. Good luck to you."

however, i'm nervous about deleting the AMD folder and everything on the off chance that this will work.

also, CCC is always being stupid, and it often won't open, but i just checked, and graphics overdrive is on.. should i disable it? graphics card is always at 99% btw.
