On October 2nd I ordered a 780 GTX (Stock card) for $650 on Amazon. Today with the price cuts, I was told I could return the card for a refund but I have to pay the shipping since it wasn't a fault of Amazon.

I have enjoyed my time with this card over the past few weeks. I game on a single, 1080p display- so even when I got the card I felt maybe it was overkill for that resolution. To make up the difference I have been downsampling to 2560 X 1440 which works okay depending on the game (Arkham Origins gets me 60 FPS to 30 FPS in big fights with lots of effects such as fog and such. Looks pretty good)

But suddenly I have another chance to make a different choice.

I will be getting $640 back.

I can either get the same stock card and pocket $140.
Spend a little extra and get an OC 780 GTX with aftermarket cooling and probably pocket $100

Or...I can get a 770GTX and pocket around $310.

But I have a concern. RAM. Specifically, because BF4 recommended 3GB of Video Ram but most 770GTX's have 2GB - which I have read "is plenty" for 1080p gaming- but is that possibly changing with the next gen games coming out? What if I purchased one of those 4GB 770's?
What is the difference in performance percentage wise between the 780 and 770? I heard it wasn't that much- like 5-10%? Is that right?

Don't bother with the 4GB, cannot utilize it all due to narrow memory bus, are you against getting a R9 280X?

Sort of. I've never been a ATI/AMD guy. Never had a bad experience with them or anything of the sort- I just always preferred NVIDIA. Even though the price is a bit higher in most cases.

Not to mention I plan on making use of the ShadowPlay and have been considering maybe getting a shield.

I used to be a diehard NVIDIA fan till I got a 7970 which killed my old high OCed 670. But, there is something we all should be waiting for. NVIDIA is playing this very smartly, they are hiding something. Not just something, but something amazing. If it wasnt for AMD competing, then NVIDIA would still have even higher prices and no new cards since theirs no competition. NVIDIA wants competition from AMD, they both rely it. Wait for Maxwell if your that diehard. You'd be amazed. Personally, I use AMD for it's OpenCL architecture that I use in mining and stuff.
