Does the ram need to be the same?

Does the ram on my pc need to be the same as the other sticks I have now or can they be a different brand and size all together?

Right now I have Kingston Hyper x ram and wanted to put either crucial ballistix or some corsair vengeance ram.

Anytime you mix DRAM it can be problematic, best to get a single package of the full amount of DRAM you want....with that said, to even offer an opinion of what's feasible in your case, would need to know what DRAM you have as well as the CPU and mobo combo as all would play into a response

M/B: Asus M5A99x pro
Ram: Kingston hyper x blu (16gb)
Cpu: AMD 8350

ahh ok! what if i got the same ram but with less Gigs? or would I have to get another 16gb?
