GTX 770 vs R9 280x

Solution
Also keep in mind that specifically for BF4 there will be a Mantle patch in December, which will (presumably) make the game run better on the R9 280x.

That's just speculation since, to my knowledge, no one has seen what kind of effects Mantle could have, but still something to keep in mind.

I would wait to answer this question, I'm pretty sure some sites out there will give you proper test results within a day or two. People here are talented and smart individuals within this subjects but I just wanted to point out there might be some good graphs and such coming out soon.

Agreed. The performance differences between those cards is minimal, I've seen different benchmarks give slight edges to either card depending on setup and the game being played. In real time gameplay, I doubt you will recognize the difference between the two unless something is seriously optimized for one company or the other. In a couple days we'll see the benchmarks from everyone with the most up to date drivers and we'll be able to see which optimizations are best :) Though I'd almost be willing to bet that the differences won't be more than a few average frames here and there, maybe as much as 10, but either way, it's not something you will notice during gameplay. I have a 770 and am extremely happy with the performance I get in everything. Looking forward to seeing how BF4 plays :)
