I'm looking into pulling the trigger on a 280X sometime in the near future, I'm not really too picky on what to spend on one, but I really like the look of the Asus Matrix 280X. What I really want to know is am I going to have any clearance issues on crossfiring them when I get another later? The triple slot seems monsterous, and I just didn't know if anybody has had any experience with them crossfired on something relative to a Asus Maximus Hero board. Any tips will help!

As long as you have the 3 PCI lanes open between the 2 slots you use it should work well. Its all down to clearance really, visibly look at the case and board and see, will the triple slot work x2. If it wont, the Toxic is looking good for less room, but the matrix does look appealing.

Looking into pulling the trigger on a 280X sometime in the near future, and combining with another one later? IMO with 3 slot card, it's a bad idea, a very bad idea. Think about temperature. No space between 2 cards. Than no perfect air flow between them. Me, have 2 asus 6970 direct cu II in crossfire. The cards use 3 pci slot. When playing the latest games the temperature going up more than 95c. Next time when buying new card(s), I'll get myself 2 slot card rather than 3 slot card.
