Is it the fans? so if we replace the fans of a noisy case with the fans of lets say a Bitfenix Ghost are we going to make a silent case?

Keep in mind that if you do that, you'll be sacrificing some good airflow. If you're really bothered by your computer noise, try putting it somewhere else where you won't be able to hear it.

Not true. Airflow has little direct relationship with CFM.

A large, solid case with big, solid fans running at slower RPMs is a recipe for a quiet case. You've chosen the word "silent", which is a strong word to use in this case. A "silent" case has no noise. That means no fans, which means you need a different way to get rid of the heat. This kind of case is likely to be closed in with a fluid piping out from the case to a heat reservoir. I imagine you weren't looking for this solution though.

My friend has a ghost and it is the most silent case i ever heard, in fact you cannot understand weather the pc is powered on or not. The fans are barely spinning but the pc is cool.

EDIT: The only thing giving it away is the HDD noise when used (it stops working after idleness) but since he is mainly using an SSD there is no sound at all :)

The Thermaltake S71 has two very large fans. A change from many 120mm fans, it is extremely quiet when the fan controller is on low. It has a window and no sound dampening, but it is whisper quiet most of the time.
