Hi All,

Please for the love of all that is pure and good, I need help! I've literally been driving myself mad by trying find out what I can upgrade to. I have an i3 2120. I don't have a custom build, I have a pre-built acer predator, right I know that it's socket is LGA1155, because my current i3 2120 is sitting in it. so I know I can upgrade, but I don't know what too. if anyone can help, please tell me the absolute maximum I can upgrade too.

my system specs:

acer mobo (that for some reason doesn't even have a code on it)(to find acer manuals)
i3 2120 3.3ghz DC
AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB DDR5 (OC TO 1.2ghz)
8gb 1333mhz ram
air cooler

(just let me know what is required to upgrade my cpu, even if it means I have to upgrade other components, money as of current is of no concern)(Any help will be really appreciated)

Thanks!

Long list short, any processor that uses a LGA 1155 socket will be compatible with your computer. I assume you know the differences between i3, i5, and i7, but if you don't I'll be glad to define them more for you.

1st Off, thank you for your reply, I think I do, but if you wouldn't mind telling me, so I don't waste 200-300. I have heard that upgrading to a "K" processor could have implications because of the manufacturers bios. Is this true? Thanks again.

K-Series processors are the unlocked processors. The only difference between these and normal processors is that these are unlocked so that you can overclock them. If this is something you want to do, then a K Series is the way to go, if not, stick to the normal processors with the speed you desire.

Okay Fella, Thank you so much for your help! And I am considering oc, just don't see the benefit with it when you have four cores and a high end card! Once again thanks for your help.
