THanks for your help & quick response!!!
I found that article you posted a while back and i used the
dell system detect program and downloaded the lists of drivers and ended up with like 30 files and i am sorting them out. One is R160320.exe and i found on net it is webcam... Another is R170200, says it is Broadcom BD Accelerator Solution, is that a video driver, so i know when to install it, do i need it??? I have a clean installl of vista on my formatted dell RIGHT NOW and i havent even did an single update on it. The updates WILL automatically download the Radeon display driver that KILLS the computer on restart if installed. SO right now should i do the updates (all except that radeon driver), or just follow and install this list of drivers from the site you suggested AND THEN do the auto update , all except the radeon driver????? When i auto update WITHOUT RADEON it will nstall some other display driver with correct resolution automatically but it doesnt listen when i tell the display to go to sleep. so the dell is either on or off no sleep.
Thats what i dont get: If the auto updates are providing me drivers and everythings working (except display drivers and it keeps forgetting how to read cd's and dvd's,) then why do i need to take time to install drivers when auto update wants to install drivers on its own?? how can i be sure ANY OF THE AUTO UPDATES are really correct especially in respect to the Drivers? WHy does everything have to be so complicated?
