ok first off, i have 8.1 installed on a partitioned 1tb drive (i shaved off 150gb for it)
and i also have 7 installed on a non partitioned 150gb drive.
so my question is...
is there a way to be able to choose what i boot into?
as in from start up > mobo screen > Windows Boot option
i can sorta do it, but i have to go into the bios or boot manager to choose which really annoying
i'm pretty sure it's possible, i just need the know-how
any help is appreciated
Cheers!

I just did a Dual Boot of Windows 7 and then Windows 8 twice. The first being unsuccessful because I didn't know about the hidden measures Windows 8 exclusively made for dual booting properly and thus destroyed my Windows 7 from booting back up. The first time I had it is the way you have it right now.

The reason your not getting the Windows Boot Option is because Windows 8 runs your drive under GUID Partition Table (GPT) under a new platform firmware called (UEFI) or it is supposedly suppose to. Your motherboard needs to support UEFI. Your Windows 7 drive also needs to be under GPT for the Windows Boot Manager to recognize the OS after the installation of Windows 8.

Here is a very helpful guide that will explain everything for dual booting Windows 7 and Windows 8 properly.

You might also want to look into Secure Boot and Compatibility Support Module (CSM) if your motherboard has those features.
