My parents VGA port does not work. The monitor and cables are fine. The computer has an integrated video card. They purchased a VGA ----> usb adaptor, but can not load the drivers without the monitor. Catch 22 here. Any help would be appreciated. The computer has no hdmi ports, just vga, usb, and one other port. 1692 or something.

if the pc is working open it up if there a video card slot or a pci slot you can put in a cheap video card to keep there system going. if the pc a few years old you can check ebay for a replacment motherboard. the service part number is on the mb. all you have to do is swap the cpu and ram to the replacement motherboard. if they had there pc for a few years they could also get a new one for black friday then use a ide to usb cable or a ide case and copy there data off the old drive.

No card slots. It has one empty ram slot. The computer does not even have dedicated ram. I do have a hard drive enclosure. Would pulling the hard drive and installing the drivers from a different computer be of any use?

I will get the model later today. It is a 3 or 4 year old hp with a rather small tower, for whatever that helps. I have access to other computers. If their hard drive is compatible, I can just swap it out in another computer and get it to boot the OS. If I can get the drivers installed on the hard drive it should theoretically work right? Or am I going about this completely wrong?
