I own an old laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens lifebook S7110) and I am thinking of upgrading its hardware by replacing its hdd with an ssd. Is it worth the money? thank you

Solution
The laptop seem to be from 2007 or earlier. This make it difficult to recommend yes or no.
If you are happy with your machine and online HDD access is problem you can think about a SSD. But for today maybe not only the HDD is the bootleneck.
Check if only the HDD is the bottleneck and not maybe also CPU or RAM.
Maybe with more information we can give a better answer.

thank you for the interest. This laptop is used for business (mainly managing routers or PBXs) and because of its interfaces (I find very usefull), my concern is to extend its lifetime as much as possible. To upgrade the cpu seems to me rather useless (considering the options available) and the ram is allready upraded to 2GB. The os installed is win xp pro 32bit. I was thinking of installing win 7 64bit and what I would like to gain by changing its hdd to ssd is speed when I have to run more than two or three apps simultaneously. Do you think I would see any improvement worth the expense?
