That core 2 duo is a bit on the weak side, the 7750 is the maximum I'd recommend for that system.

What is the budget and why the upgrade?
Also please check the motherboard supports PCI-E cards, it should but you rig is close to the changeover years when PCs switched from AGP to PCI-E graphics slots.
Don't expect stellar performance in current games, even with a stronger card the CPU is going to hold the system back significantly.
