I am at a loss. I have inserted a 6870 2GB card into my PC and for the life of me can not get it to work. It is not recognised in the Device Manager, just my integrated graphics. So to date I have carried out the following,

Formatted and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 64bit ultimate with sp1, all important and optional updates and also all of the NET framework and C++ packages

Upgraded BIOS to latest version, my old PC had an option in here for disabling on board graphics but this motherboard does not have anything even relating to it that I can see.

Since the PC does not recognise the card, CCC doesn't pick up the card to even try and install the drivers, it only allows me to install the install manager, which also fails and pops up with a install package failure message and the installation quits.

It is worth noting that when the card is plugged into the mobo, the GPU fan is spinning even with the extra power sources disconncected so I figure there is power from the mobo getting to the card.

The PC is a few years old, a hp dc5800 microtower, I've upgraded the PSU also for a 700w version. But I don't think this should affect me even trying to see the card.

Can anyone help me? I've spent a whole day troubleshooting this with no success. I'm ready to chuck this card out the window! Many thanks

Yea sure, according to the desktop itself it is the standard dc5800 microtower model. Is there any hardware details you want to know? I can find them out and write them up on the thread if this helps? Thanks

Yes I understand that's what it is hence the comment 'I can't see anything written on it'. Only that it's hp branded. You obviously don't have a clue except you can't read (including earlier with the OS already stated) and how to be condescending repeatedly to new users. So thanks.

Does anyone else know what my problem could be? Thanks
