Hi,
This is gonna be my first pc build, I want to play BF4, Arma 3 and other games. But I was wondering if the R9 280x is overkill to play those games at 1080p on a single monitor. Also, I have heard the drivers are utter garbage. So should I downgrade to a 7950 or perhaps a 760. I want to play high to ultra at over 50 fps.

Feel free to downgrade it to a GTX760. It'll be able to handle those games just fine, might have to tweak some settings down from Max but overall it'll be good.

I have shopped around and I can get the 7970 for about $270, is that a better card. Just to let you know I kinda am favoring AMD because of Mantel. But if Nvidia is better price/preformance than I will certainly get Nvidia. The reason I went for the 280x originally was that it was a little less than 770 performance but 100 dollars cheaper.
