So, as the title stated, I tried to update windows 8 to windows 8.1. During the installation process I noticed a few times it said there were errors in the process, but it eventually seemingly successfully installed it.

However, when windows 8.1 booted up, I noticed the graphics were messed up (i.e. wrong resolution etc.) So, I installed the newest *Beta graphics drivers 13.11 for my graphics card which can be found here:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064

During this installation, the computer completely crashed. It then tried to restart several times, and windows tried to automatically fix the problem. I tried to do that automatic start-up repair (said it would check disk which could take up to an hour) but that didn't do anything.

I then did a restore to a point prior to updating to 8.1 or installing the new graphics drivers. (time was 3AM 10/29/2013). It STILL did not load up properly even though it said it successfully restored my computer to a time when it was working perfectly fine.

Lastly, I rebooted my computer and spammed F2 and F8 (wasn't sure which allowed me to view my boot options). I reset my motherboard to the default UEFI settings (I had done some OC tweaking which was very stable prior to any of this). In my specific motherboard there is an option to view the components that are installed in your motherboard and I noticed that my dedicated graphics card wasn't being recognized in any of the PCI slots. (note: I had never checked this before so it is possible it was never recognized in its respective PCI slot).

However, none of this fixed my issue. When I restart my computer it shows the little blue windows logo (4 blue squares) with a little loading thing under it. After a few seconds the screen goes completely blank. So, I don't know if windows is just not loading or if it is loading but my graphics card isn't working.

I tried connecting my monitor directly to my motherboard (since it has integrated graphics) to see whether or not it was my graphics card. Oddly, no matter what connection I used HDMI, DVI, etc. it was saying there was no signal. This is bizarre because I know in the past I have connected my monitor to my MOBO and it worked perfectly fine.

Here are the components of my PC:

**TL:DR** I updated Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 which caused graphical issues. Then updated my drivers to new Beta 13.11 drivers which caused computer to completely crash. Did a restore point to a time before either of these events and it still won’t load up Windows. When I start my computer the blue windows 8 logo pops up with the loading thing under it. After a few seconds the screen goes completely black. I do not want to do a complete system restore, because Battlefield 4 just came out and I really want to try it.

Any help would be immensely appreciated,

Solution
HEY EVERYONE I FIXED IT!

It was sort of a combination of all answers so I am just going to say what ended up fixing it for me in hopes it helps someone else. I TRULY APPRECIATE ALL OF YOUR HELP!! You are all very helpful people.

So, after I got it to boot into safe mode, I ran CCleaner and cleared everything it possibly could as well as fixing all registry issues. ((Not sure which forum I found this on sorry)

Then, I ran driver sweeper. Again, I analyzed and cleaned everything it found. (Not sure which forum I found this on sorry)

I uninstalled Lucid VirtuMVP (suggested by MONSTA!)

Let it restart in normal mode and TADAAA!!! it actually loaded up (on my MOBO's gpu).

Then I installed the beta 13.11 drivers for my specific GPU...

Most of the things I have read said to boot in safe mode, disable your graphics card, restart, install the newest driver for the graphics card, reboot, re-enable graphics card. I am at work and haven't tried this yet. The odd thing is that the issue wasn't resolved when I did a restore to time before all this happened, which makes me believe this won't fix my issue.

My issue is I can't get to safe mode. F2,f8 shift f8 or whatever simply won't work. Its so frustrating.
I don't want my laptop being sent back and out of action for a week.

Been a rough and long 2 days searching forums, troubleshooting, and trial and error. But this so far seems to have fixed the issue (fingers crossed).

Again thanks everyone! Hope this helps others with the same issue!

Ah happy to hear you solved it, i totally forgot to post an answer here for all the laptop guys out there.

So if your on a laptop and you cant get into safe mode for some reason.

Some laptops actually will automatically go into safe mode after a certain number of times restarting your laptop at the windows screen. Power on Laptop and the moment you hit the windows 4 square logo loading just before you hit the black screen, power it off and keep doing this until it prompts you its starting recovery mode. (Usually 2-3 times) stumbled on dell's support site and saw for dell laptops it takes 3 times mine took only 2. So from then on I did a repair and to those who wish to do a recovery from a safepoint you may do so from there as well.

YAY ^_^
